The short version
There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no comments and no advertising on this site. We do not ask for your name, email address, payment details or date of birth in order to read it. Where optional Google Analytics is enabled, it stays off unless you separately accept it. Rejecting analytics does not affect access to the site.
What happens when you visit
Like any website, ours is delivered by a hosting provider, which receives your IP address, the page you requested and details such as your browser type when your device loads a page. This is needed to deliver the site and to protect it from abuse. Our access checks use the country derived from your IP address to apply any regional restrictions; these checks do not create a visitor profile.
The first time you visit, a notice asks you to confirm you are an adult. Your confirmation is remembered in a first-party cookie named bag_adult_ok for 30 days, or in your browser’s session storage if cookies are blocked. It contains no identifier and is not sent to us for any purpose other than being returned with your page requests. You can clear it at any time with the link in the page footer, or by deleting the cookie in your browser. This is an age declaration, not an age check.
Optional analytics
If analytics is enabled, a separate choice appears after your adult confirmation. Accept and reject are equally available. No Google analytics script loads and no analytics request goes to Google before you accept. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, analytics remains off even if you previously accepted it.
After you accept, Google Analytics processes pageviews, cookie identifiers and information about your browser, device and network connection, including the IP address used to connect to Google and approximate location. We use the resulting reports to understand which pages are read. The page addresses we send omit query strings and fragments; referring addresses omit those too, and external referrers are reduced to their domain. We do not send account IDs or enable Google signals, advertising features or advertising personalization.
Open Cookie settings in the footer to change your choice or turn analytics off. Turning it off deletes this site’s Google Analytics cookies and reloads the page to stop further collection. This does not delete information already received by Google; contact us about a data request using the details on the Contact page.
Cookies and external links
The essential bag_adult_ok cookie remembers your adult confirmation for 30 days. Where analytics choices are offered, the essential bag_analytics_consent cookie remembers your choice and when you made it for 180 days; it contains no visitor identifier. You can clear these preferences through your browser.
Only after you accept analytics, Google can set first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by a property identifier to distinguish browsers and visits. We configure these cookies for this host only, with a 180-day expiry that is not extended by each visit. Your browser may remove them sooner.
Fonts and editorial artwork are served by this site, not by a third party. Links to stores, developers and sources take you to separate services with their own privacy policies; we add no tracking parameters to them and ask your browser not to pass on the page you came from.
If you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply, to handle corrections and takedown requests, and to keep a record of how we dealt with them. We do not add you to a mailing list or share your message except where the law requires it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used. Contact the operator using the details on the Contact page. Withdrawing analytics consent stops future collection in that browser; it is separate from a request about data already collected. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
