A dimensional accident puts a male protagonist in a strange house with women from other worlds, including a succubus. The premise gets the harem assembled; the appeal comes from what happens between encounters. A House in the Rift makes sharing a bed, a kitchen and an ordinary evening feel worth pursuing. Then its timetable gets involved.
Women worth coming home to

Azraesha, usually called Rae, has the sexual confidence you would expect from a succubus, along with wit, ambitions and a life beyond pleasing the protagonist. Caitlin becomes more assertive, giving her curiosity some backbone. Lyriel's defensive arrogance makes the elf harder to warm to, and her affection more satisfying when it emerges. Her hostility still requires patience.
Naomi's muscular pirate-captain swagger and Yona's strong orc presence broaden the household's erotic appeal. Different bodies help; personalities decide whether you want to stay. Naomi's rough teasing and physical intimidation can make her company much less inviting. The story often treats aggression as playful banter, but the joke will not land for everyone. Affection loses its pull when spending time with a woman feels exhausting.
The appeal of staying the night

Sleeping together, cuddling and sharing a quiet evening give the sex a comfortable domestic setting. These smaller pleasures make the women appealing companions after an encounter, too. Repeatable sleepovers let intimacy become part of a relationship's routine. Free v0.8.12 includes updated Lyriel activities and sleepover options, with the newer intimacy system enabled for Rae and Caitlin.
You can decline sex with women you do not want to pursue, although their story quests can still be required elsewhere. Dialogue choices change scenes, responses and relationship gains without sending every conversation down a radically different path. Getting closer to one lover still means taking part in the wider household.
When animation misses the chemistry
The rendered 3D presentation combines still scenes with substantial animation. Motion gives the sex more presence, while the cast's different physiques and attitudes keep the attraction varied. Domestic affection, forceful encounters and group situations offer different moods. Some expressions and movements feel stiff, though. Animation loses much of its appeal when the character's enthusiasm fails to come through; her personality needs to survive the scene.
The main game's sex scenes use music, with no sexual voice performances. Some dream content includes voices and sexual sounds, so those performances should not be expected throughout the game. Dialogue, staging and movement carry the main cast's desire. Repeatable activities and a scene gallery offer ways to revisit content, although progression still controls access.
When anticipation becomes admin

The house map, quest log and relationship trackers help you find the women and manage your time. Their schedules make the place feel inhabited, and intertwined quests give its residents a shared history. Those connections also create hold-ups: the woman you want may need another character's event, a particular time or an intimacy requirement before anything moves forward. Repeating familiar activities to raise a number does little for the chemistry.
Free v0.8.12 also has acknowledged intimacy and lewdness bugs. A relationship can stop advancing even after its quests are complete; the identified fixes arrive in later v0.8.14r2. A tracker helps with a missing prerequisite, but cannot make a blocked event work. Skipping days and hunting for requirements takes the edge off the anticipation. The game makes its erotic payoff harder to reach than it deserves.
What the free and paid editions include

Free itch.io v0.8.12 was published on September 15, 2026, with explicit content included and an unfinished story. In October 2026, the separate Premium page listed v0.8.14 at a minimum of $10 USD. Patreon offers earlier builds, while subscriber codes unlock some bonus dreams and seasonal content. Premium does not guarantee every supporter reward. Payment changes access and timing; the public game's sex does not need a paid uncensor patch.
Verdict
Start with the free edition of A House in the Rift. Rae's confidence, Lyriel's guarded warmth and the comfort of recurring intimacy give its animated sex a reason to matter. The household has enough charm and adult content to justify a visit, provided you can tolerate some abrasive company and a lot of scheduling. Progression bugs in v0.8.12 are a substantial flaw, and a newer paid build still leaves the story unfinished. These relationships deserve an easier route to the bedroom. Their appeal makes the game worth trying, and the time spent chasing prerequisites all the more frustrating.

Questions before you play
Is the sex uncensored in the free version?
Yes. Free itch.io v0.8.12 includes nudity and animated sex. Paying gives access to newer builds or supporter extras; this public release does not need a paid uncensor patch.
What does buying Premium add?
In October 2026, the separate Premium page offered v0.8.14 for a $10 USD minimum, ahead of free v0.8.12. Patreon-only dream and seasonal-content codes are separate rewards, so the purchase does not promise every subscriber extra.
Is there a finished story?
No. Character and story updates are still in development. Neither the free build nor a Premium purchase provides a finished campaign.
Does the main game have voiced sex scenes?
The main game uses music rather than full voiced performances for the central cast's encounters. Some dream content includes voices and sexual sounds.
Can I stick to one woman?
You can decline sex with other women, but their story quests can still be required to advance your preferred relationship. Choosing one lover does not let you skip all the shared household quests.
Can relationships get stuck in the free build?
Yes. Acknowledged intimacy and lewdness bugs can block progression in public v0.8.12. The developer identifies fixes in later v0.8.14r2, so completing more quests cannot resolve every blocked stat.
