There are easier games in which to collect boobs. Our Red String keeps reminding you that the person attached to them has a life. Lena and Ian have jobs, creative ambitions, old wounds and several tempting ways to complicate their relationships. You guide both, which gives cheating consequences on either side of the attraction.
A tender romance and a reckless hookup can emerge from the same cast. Knowing what an encounter means to these people gives its lightly animated illustrations much of their erotic charge. The best temptations put something a character wants within reach while risking something else they value.
Two protagonists, two sets of desires

Lena’s music and modelling ambitions create opportunities for attention, pleasure and compromise. Ian’s writing and publishing work bring frustrations of their own. Switching viewpoints lets you choose whom each desires, then see the consequences from the other side. The story encourages their attraction while leaving both room to pursue someone else.
Holly’s warmth, Ivy’s party-girl confidence and Emma’s sexual openness give the supporting cast distinct appeal. Friends have concerns beyond supplying a sex scene, and the better encounters develop a particular relationship. Attention is uneven, though. Finding a favourite does not guarantee that their branch receives as much care as the central couple.
Tenderness, jealousy and kink

Fidelity, cheating and negotiated experimentation give sex different emotional stakes. A relationship involving Lena, Ian and Holly offers a different pleasure from secretly pursuing another partner. There is room for lesbian encounters, exhibitionism, rougher sex and dominance or submission. That variety changes situations and attachments as well as what happens in a scene.
Corruption paths can bring humiliation, jealousy and distinctly unattractive partners. Affection varies between routes. References to domestic abuse, drugs and sex work further complicate the mood. The writing is strongest when desire clashes with loyalty; some branches lean harder on a fetish opportunity than on convincing romantic development.
Illustrated heat, limited motion
Posed illustrations and changing frames do most of the visual work. Curves, expressions and written reactions give the sex personality, but the animation is limited. That can feel particularly thin after a long buildup has made an encounter important. Your control comes through choosing a path and partner; there is no directing bodies or cameras during sex.
The drawn cast has a more personal presence than interchangeable glossy renders. Faces occasionally change too much between images, and a pose does not always fit the dialogue. Music sustains the mood, although the game lacks full dialogue voice acting. Later chapters use AI-generated environments, so the visual package is not entirely drawn by hand. The characters and writing carry most of the heat.
Desire has a character sheet

Wits, charisma, athleticism and lust unlock different responses. Money and will are limited resources, giving some opportunities a cost beyond picking the hottest answer. Earlier priorities can decide whether a later temptation is available. Building confidence or indulging desire changes what Lena and Ian can do when the moment arrives.
That is satisfying when the result follows the personality you have developed. It becomes irritating when an obscure requirement closes a scene you wanted, or a seemingly minor answer matters much later. Keep several saves. Trying to keep every partner happy pushes against the game’s strongest idea: commitments and indiscretions leave other possibilities behind.
The branches reward another run

Another run can change who gets involved, how a relationship feels and what the protagonists tell themselves about it. Those differences make replay worthwhile. Reaching them also means repeating a substantial amount of everyday life before the next branch. The reading gives intimacy its buildup, but readers looking for rapid porn delivery will find the wait excessive.
The Steam edition assessed in October 2026 includes the Chapter 15.1 additions, but the larger story remains in Early Access. Sex is included in the paid game without a separate adult patch. The existing relationships give you several paths to explore; unresolved arcs still leave you waiting for another instalment.
Steam and itch sell different builds
At the October 2026 check, Steam listed Windows at a $19.99 US list price. The developer’s separate itch offer listed Windows, macOS and Android files at a €20 minimum, labelled v14.2.3. That is a different release from Steam’s newer chapter. Reports from itch buyers of trouble with the external Android download link add a practical snag: confirm access before purchasing specifically for your phone.
Verdict

Our Red String is worth buying for the tension between getting laid and keeping someone’s trust. Guiding two protagonists gives tenderness, cheating and experimentation distinct stakes, and its best illustrated encounters benefit from the time spent getting there. Modest motion and inconsistent faces cap the visual payoff. Obscure scene requirements and repeated reading also make chasing every possibility hard work. The assessed Steam chapters offer enough relationship variation to justify the price for a patient reader. The branching already rewards a second run; anyone who needs closure should wait for the story to finish.
