Adult game playtime by genre: what our catalog's hours cover

A dated study of 125 reviewed adult games: 18 duration estimates, 107 unknowns, and what routes, grind and adult editions do to the clock.

Ten hours building attraction, ten hours hunting crafting ingredients and ten hours replaying porn are very different bargains. Our October 6, 2026 snapshot of 125 substantive scored reviews contains 18 playtime estimates and 107 unknowns. Those 18 can help you compare particular games, provided you know where each route, campaign or edition stops. They cannot tell you how long the average adult game lasts or when your favorite character gets naked.

First, count the missing clocks

Simulation has one estimate among six games, with five unknown: OnlyCans advertises one to two hours of erotic soda photography. Those hours cover a compact novelty built around playful can personas, with no human sex.

The 18 recorded estimates break down into nine developer or publisher claims, four critic accounts, three reader-based length panels and two combinations of completion accounts. They time different goals: a campaign ending, every romance route or a gallery cleanup. Each game appears once under its primary catalog genre; secondary tags do not inflate the counts.

An unknown playtime does not mean an unfinished game. This snapshot labels 100 assessed packages complete, ten ongoing and 15 Early Access. A finished installment can still belong to an open series.

Visual novels: count the routes and seasons

Visual novels supply eight estimates among 50 reviews, leaving 42 unknown. Even this small set spans very different reading commitments. Acting Lessons advertises five to eight hours for a playthrough; FreshWomen Season 1 advertises eight to ten for its first five episodes; Being a DIK Season 1 advertises eight to twelve for four episodes. The latter two estimates end with the assessed seasons. Later relationships and endings belong to separate continuations, so those hours do not cover a finished romance across either series.

Making Lovers counts more than one courtship. NookGaming reports about 16 hours for the introduction and all five original routes, including roughly three hours per route. Choosing one girlfriend asks for less time, and early route selection lets you follow the chemistry that appeals to you without reading every relationship. Hashihime's publisher estimates a 30–40-hour story with further paths unlocked through completed routes. Reading speed, attention to voiced dialogue and interest in alternative partners all affect these commitments. Treating the totals as interchangeable hours of porn tells you very little about the experience.

Dating sims: the cost of a bad decision

Dating sims have one estimate among eleven reviews, leaving ten unknown. Hush Hush is that example: GameGrin describes roughly 12–14 hours, with achievement hunting extending the commitment. Its calendar divides days into appointments, work and stat building. Attractive dialogue and English performances give the dates their appeal, while money, stats and discovering secrets help determine whether the relationships survive.

A failed relationship can trace back to a decision made much earlier. Reloading means repeating dates and rebuilding progress before you can reach a different outcome. That can be satisfying experimentation or a bloody nuisance once you care about someone. There is also an edition boundary: Steam's optional 18+ Uncensored DLC supplies visible sex and alternate adult material. Twelve hours spent in the base campaign does not automatically include that version of the intimacy.

Adventure and action: make the detours worth it

The adventure examples stretch further apart. Adventure Gamers describes roughly three hours for Lust for Darkness and an eleven-hour first playthrough of Lust from Beyond. Both offer erotic horror, so the appeal differs from comfortable courtship. GOG's reader-based panel lists Treasure of Nadia at 31 hours main, 41.5 with sides and 44 completionist. Its harem rewards can make that long journey appealing, but repeated item hunting can turn it into a slog. More hours improve value only while the exploration or sexual payoff keeps earning your attention.

Action has two estimates among eight reviews, with six unknown; adventure has four among twelve, with eight unknown. Castle in the Clouds shows how much the chosen goal matters. DatWombat describes three to four hours of content, while MeltedJoystick reports about seven for a blind completionist run, still leaving one achievement. FlipWitch players separately report around nine hours for a finish and eleven with most side missions. Hunting outfits and sex rewards can extend the trip. These accounts do not establish a fixed full-gallery time.

RPGs: count the combat between scenes

RPGs have two estimates among 16 reviews, leaving 14 unknown. Sakura Dungeon advertises 15–25 hours depending on skill and difficulty. Much of that commitment is dungeon crawling: party building, captures, navigation and repeated fights lead toward its character artwork. A harder difficulty can ask for more time without a corresponding increase in romance or sex.

Subverse advertises a main quest that can take about 20 hours, alongside a broader 30-plus-hour adventure claim and additional side activities. Crew devotion and erotic unlocks share that time with combat and the voiced story. Its advertised skip options can speed things up for players mainly seeking sex, while optional activities can lengthen the stay. The main-story estimate does not include the separately sold Celestina Unbound expansion. A long campaign and a substantial porn collection each still have to justify their repetition and reward your interest.

Idle games and sandboxes need a different clock

Puzzle's seven reviews, strategy's six, the single card game and the single idle game also have no recorded duration estimates. Crush Crush explicitly progresses while you are away. A detailed Booty Farm Steam account admits its large logged total includes AFK activity, so that counter cannot measure focused reading or completion.

All seven sandbox reviews have unknown playtime. Anthro Heat offers direct sexual interaction and posing without major content gated behind dating progression. Your stopping point depends on how much you enjoy arranging bodies and repeating encounters. Breeders of the Nephelym remains Early Access; hours spent in its current breeding loop cannot tell you the length of a finished future campaign.

Choose a goal that matters to you: one partner's payoff, the delivered story ending or a broader collection. Neither waiting for boobs nor leaving a client open proves you received more satisfying adult content.

Questions and answers

How many games in the sample have a playtime estimate?

The October 6, 2026 sample contains 125 substantive scored canonical reviews. Eighteen have a playtime estimate; 107 leave the field unknown. Unscored imports are excluded. These are dated catalog figures, not a count of the whole adult-game market.

Is an unknown playtime a sign that a game is unfinished?

No. Duration and completion status are separate. The snapshot labels 100 assessed packages complete, ten ongoing and 15 Early Access, while 107 playtime fields remain unknown. A complete season can still leave its larger series unfinished.

Does Making Lovers' 16-hour estimate cover one girlfriend's route?

No. NookGaming reports about 16 hours for the original introduction and all five routes, with roughly three hours per route. That is one reviewer's reading experience, and it excludes the separate After Stories follow-up.

Are GOG's Time to Beat estimates developer promises?

No. GOG credits HowLongToBeat, a reader-based length source. Its main, main-plus-sides and completionist categories time different goals. They do not establish the runtime of every current Steam build or every separate DLC.

Can Steam's hours on record tell me the time to completion?

A logged total can include idling, repeated runs or a game abandoned before the ending. FlipWitch accounts explicitly describe nine- and eleven-hour finishes; a Booty Farm account explicitly includes AFK time. Check what the player completed before using their hours as a target.

Do campaign estimates cover every sex scene and the adult edition?

Not necessarily. Hush Hush's Steam sex presentation requires its optional 18+ Uncensored DLC, and Blackberry Honey's free Adult Patch adds text to the main story. Finishing a campaign, filling its gallery and reaching a particular partner's scene can each have a different clock.
