A ghost boss whose boobs double as platforms is a fair introduction to Castle in the Clouds DX. The game commits to its ridiculous, curvy fantasy: Lily has expressive movement and a strong silhouette, while the enemies and larger erotic illustrations show how much personality animation can carry. Its sexual appeal is immediate and visual. Emotional intimacy gets very little attention.
Lily's bounty hunting takes her through separate areas reached from a town hub, with guild quests leading towards a legendary fallen castle. Weapons, treasure and movement relics give exploration a steady supply of rewards. The DX soundtrack mixes chiptune with fuller instrumentation, adding charm even to a familiar dungeon. Dialogue and supporting characters struggle to keep up with the art and music.
Sexual coercion sets the tone

The opening includes rape, and a powerful man's sexual demand shapes Lily's next opportunity. Monsters can force encounters during play, too. The story moves past these events quickly and gives their aftermath little attention. Bright colors and comic exaggeration put a playful surface on that coercive fantasy; affection and emotional fallout barely enter the picture.
Later scenes include transactional sex and partners ranging from humans, including women, to monsters. The story supplies some encounters; optional activities and searching off the main route reveal others. Town sex work adds more setups, though the cast largely serves as employers, targets or the next sexual opportunity. Discovering a new animated situation supplies most of the anticipation. Conversation does little to build chemistry with a partner.
The animation deserves a bigger repertoire

Both the larger sex illustrations and the smaller pixel encounters have lively animation that makes the nudity more appealing than a static gallery would. The style holds together across both scales. Variety is the problem. Heart-marked enemies trigger erotic encounters, while many ordinary enemies and bosses offer no sex scene. Moving to a new area can bring back loops you've already seen. Striking boss designs often promise a sexual reward their encounters never deliver.
These loops offer limited control: button presses advance an animation, and the resulting resource can power a screen-wide attack. Recovery actions are also needed when the arousal meter restricts movement. That creates a link between the adult-content system and combat, but repeating an animation for its mechanical benefit soon becomes routine.
Relics make exploration worth the detour

Relics gradually let Lily run, double-jump, climb walls and cling to ceilings. New movement opens routes to equipment and health upgrades, so searching for erotic extras fits naturally alongside treasure hunting. Eight-direction attacks and a choice of close weapons, whips or projectile wands give combat some flexibility. Four difficulty settings and forgiving recovery keep access to adult content from depending on expert platforming.
Progression becomes less convincing as health and equipment let Lily muscle through encounters. Choosing stats at the inn offers limited room to specialize, and money can lose its purpose once the shops have little left to sell. Obscure passages and sticky wall or ceiling grabs add another frustration. Finding the last reward can demand more patience with the scenery and controls than skill in combat. Another familiar sex loop is a meagre reward for that much fuss.
What the DX purchase includes

Steam's DX edition includes the uncensored adult game and a separate SFW launch option. The sex scenes come with the purchase; the separately sold soundtrack is an audio extra. Compared with the original Japanese DLsite release, DX adds more animated adult scenes, boss rush, more playable characters and a new soundtrack.
At its October 2026 U.S. list price of $12.99, the complete game offers reasonable value. Finishing the campaign opens boss rush, and New Game+ allows another run with two bonus characters, different abilities and their own hidden scenes. Those extras give completionists useful reasons to return. Their appeal still depends on enjoying the action, since another run draws on the same limited pool of ordinary sex encounters.
Verdict
Castle in the Clouds DX is a worthwhile little action adventure with an erotic repertoire it wears out too quickly. Lily's movement, expressive pixel nudity and excellent soundtrack give exploration real charm, while the included adult version and postgame modes make the modest price reasonable. Lust rewards repeated sex, but it cannot supply the variety or interaction the scenes lack. Thin characters and the breezy treatment of rape also leave little intimacy to enjoy. The art makes these sexual rewards worth finding; the action has to do most of the work once you've seen them.
