For an established Kontext workflow, the appeal is straightforward: correct an approved image with text instructions and keep iterating. Pro and max are hosted; dev is downloadable under a different license, so record which variant produced each asset. Its A tier reflects that editing specialization. For a new project, compare it with FLUX.2 and other instruction-based editors before inheriting a tool choice from an older tutorial. A reference image does not guarantee a fixed character: after substantial edits, check face shape, proportions, clothing seams and areas that should have stayed unchanged.
Commercial use & license
Hosted Kontext is governed by service terms. Kontext dev uses the FLUX non-commercial license, with separate output permissions; commercial or production model operation needs separate licensing.
Adult content rules
BFL prohibits unlawful content and realistic intimate depictions of real people without verified, documented and informed consent; hosted providers add their own filters and terms.
What you need
Local use requires a compatible GPU runtime, model components and storage. Measure memory use with your chosen workflow.
Ranks are recommendations for the task described, based on reviewed documentation. Model ranks cover non-explicit development work. We have not run practical benchmarks. Check content policies and commercial terms separately. How the ranks work →
