Veo 3.1 is worth shortlisting for trailer shots whose opening and closing compositions are already planned. First- and last-frame inputs give you concrete ways to guide a transition, while extension can continue a Veo-generated clip. Google keeps it alongside Omni for these workflows. Those controls make it useful for animating approved, non-explicit game art, but they cannot guarantee that a character's face or movement will survive every take. Review identity, motion and generated sound separately before accepting a shot. The Gemini API endpoint remains in preview: keep your source art and downloaded masters, with another production route available if the endpoint changes.

What you need
Use the Gemini API model ID veo-3.1-generate-preview with paid-tier access and an API key. Check its duration/resolution matrix: 1080p and 4K require eight-second generation, and video extension is limited to 720p.
Ranks are recommendations for the task described, based on reviewed documentation. Model ranks cover non-explicit development work. We have not run practical benchmarks. Check content policies and commercial terms separately. How the ranks work →
