Veo 3.1 Lite is a sensible first stop for short, non-explicit video drafts when generation cost matters. Text and image inputs let you sketch a shot or animate a starting still, but Lite cannot extend an existing video or deliver 4K output. That makes it easier to recommend for a brief environmental insert than for a sequence built around continuation. A named character close-up still needs careful review for appearance and motion; a cheaper take is no saving if you have to throw it away. Compare a representative shot with standard Veo 3.1 before committing an asset batch, and count editing time alongside generation charges.

Paid Gemini API access in a supported region, through a Cloud project with active billing. Use veo-3.1-lite-generate-preview and check Lite's capability table before reusing standard Veo 3.1 settings.
