Stable Fast 3D turns one image into a textured, UV-unwrapped mesh, with predicted materials and a lighting-removal step intended to make the asset easier to light in a game. Its appeal for early prop work is practical: several preparation steps sit in one local pipeline, and the output is a GLB you can inspect. Treat it as a prop prototyping tool; character topology still needs separate assessment. Gated weights and experimental Mac/Windows support complicate setup. For adult developers, the decisive limit is Stability's prohibition on sexually explicit content, which also applies locally. TripoSR's MIT license and a wrapper's license do not replace the terms for this release.
Commercial use & license
The July 5, 2024 Stability AI Community License requires commercial registration. Its operative revenue clause terminates the grant when you and affiliates, individually or together, exceed US$1 million in annual revenue from any source. Distribution, attribution and the incorporated current AUP also apply locally. Confirm eligibility at the exact threshold, where the introductory wording and model card differ.
Adult content rules
Stability's current AUP prohibits sexually explicit content, including content relating to sexual acts. This release incorporates the policy, and local use remains covered. The recommendation applies only to permitted non-explicit work.
What you need
Local setup requires PyTorch, compiled UV/texture components and access to the gated Hugging Face weights. The default single-image run reports about 6 GB GPU VRAM. Mac MPS and Windows support are experimental; the README recommends CPU use below 32 GB Mac unified memory. Hosted API use needs an API key and credits.
Ranks are recommendations for the task described, based on reviewed documentation. Model ranks cover non-explicit development work. We have not run practical benchmarks. Check content policies and commercial terms separately. How the ranks work →
