Kolors is Kuaishou’s older local text-to-image model, worth keeping for Chinese/English prompt comparisons and projects already built around its pipeline. Give it the same asset brief as your other candidates, then compare prompt handling, the revisions needed for a usable character image, and the compute cost of that workflow. Confirm adapter support before importing an SDXL setup. Commercial deployment needs care: the model’s custom license has conflicting English and Chinese wording, while the model card asks commercial users to register. Get those terms clarified before building a release around it.
Commercial use & license
Code is Apache-2.0; model weights also carry MODEL_LICENSE. English terms require permission for cloud vendors or licensees above the stated 100-million monthly-active-user threshold; Chinese terms require permission for commercial use generally. Resolve this discrepancy before relying on a commercial grant.
Adult content rules
The model card does not establish permission to generate explicit adult content. Local use still has license obligations; hosted services have separate content rules.
What you need
Original setup lists Python 3.8+, PyTorch 1.13.1+ and Transformers 4.26.1+, with CUDA 11.7+ recommended. Allow storage for the model components; measure GPU memory with your chosen workflow.
Ranks are recommendations for the task described, based on reviewed documentation. Model ranks cover non-explicit development work. We have not run practical benchmarks. Check content policies and commercial terms separately. How the ranks work →
